Modifying the surface of polymer film through the use of SILIKE silicone wax additives can either improve processing properties in fabrication or downstream packaging equipment or the end use of polymer having non-migratory slip properties.

“Slip” additives are used to reduce a film’s resistance to sliding over itself or parts of converting equipment. Although amides are entrenched in most film applications because of their high efficiency and good cost structure. However, non-migratory,high-molecular-weight organic materials like siloxane slip additives are being used in specialty applications. as it offers immediate COF reduction that is not affected by high storage or use temperatures such as in shrink tunnels or hot-filling, they can be used in the outer layers of the multi-layer film.
